Who am I?
My name is Sammie, aka TiptoeSammie on social media, and this is my personal website dedicated to my love for motorcycles and everything related.
I could tell you now that ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated by the freedom and adrenaline that comes with riding on two wheels, but truth be told, that's not quite how it started.
So if you´re keen on knowing where I´m coming from, feel free to scroll down.
My story
04/1988-My birthday
I was born on the 20th April 1988 in the only Grand-Duchy in the world : Luxembourg. That is where I spent my entire childhood, teenage years and ,well, my adultlife also, except for a few years here and there.
02/2011-Fashionblogger days
In 2011 I found myself attracted to everything fashion related and started a fashion blog. It´s name? Fashionbarbecue. It was a fun mixture of my daily outfits and trends in the fashion industry and I adored doing it. It completely consumed me and I was all in for it.
03/2012-Hallo Berlin
Moved to Berlin for studies and eventhough I was on my own for months with nobody to talk to, I really liked the vibe of the city. It was also there, that I realized that I didn´t want to pursue my studies and change my path towards a different career. I just couldn´t see myself educating kids for 40 years.
09/2014-A dream come true
My fashionblog gained popularity and so I found myself invited to THE Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. What started as a dream turned into a goal, which then became reality. It was a one of a kind experience and to this day I´m still in awe of what I lived through. The shows, the parties, the meetings, simply mesmerizing.
04/2016-To the gym and back
I somehow got into the fitness craze and wanted to compete in a bikini bodybuilding competition. I dedicated my entire days during months to intense training and nutrition, dropped my fashionblog for it ( big mistake) and then two weeks prior the competition, I didn't feel like I belonged on that stage since I was lacking one essential : muscles!
09/2019-Gruezi
I got seconded to Switzerland because of my job and had such a good time...until Covid hit and we were locked up, surrounded by the most beautiful mountains and landscapes. However we still managed to discover some beautiful places.
07/2020-My first two wheels
I got myself a pretty, red 49ccm Vespa to commute to work in order to avoid the long public transport. The first rides were quite spectacular, as in, lucky nothing major happened because I didn´t have any experience. But I quickly got a hold of it and it became the most fun way to commute for me. It also helped me tremendously to lift my mood when coming home and leaving work at work.
02/2021-Back in the hood
I moved back to Luxembourg because Switzerland was done for good. In my moving box : The wish to get my motorcycle licence in order to keep commuting on two wheels. This is me in my first gear ever, cool right? Fun fact: I never got to wear that helmet because it gave me headaches...
06/2022-I did it!
After 12 theory lessons,a theoretic exam,16+ riding lessons and a practical exam I finally was allowed to legally ride on the streets. However limited to 35KW for the first 2 years, because that´s just how it is here. I was so happy! If you're looking for a great driving school in Luxembourg: Go to Bertrand and take your lessons with Tom
07/2022-My first real motorcycle
I finally picked up my first real bike. The KTM RC390 from 2022. It's not an exaggeration telling you that this bike was love at first sight and fun at first ride. The feeling of riding for the first time solo, without an instructor, is unmatched until today.
07/2022-I'm online
As I always had this thing for expressing myself and my thoughts through pictures and words, it felt quite naturally to blend my new hobby with a longstanding passion of mine : motorcycles and video-/ photography. This kicked off my social media presence. As of today I find myself with a following of over 60K people, holy moly.
03/2024-The DUC&what's next?
I got myself a second bike because I realized I wanted to start going on real adventures and tour around Europe. So my current plans for this season : Ride to the North of the Netherlands, make a return to Switzerland, but not for work&living but to conquer the beautiful Alps. Some more items on my to-ride list are : completing an off-road training and safety trainings, as well as visiting EICMA and IMOT, among others.
