<p><br></p><p><strong>Is the Insta360X4 worth upgrading for? And is it a smart choice if you've just started diving into the 360 action camera sea? <br></strong></p><p>Insta360 started spring 2024 with a bang by releasing it's new flagship cam, finally, one may say. It's been a whopping 19 months since the X3 has come out and this sure feels like an eternity in action camera terms. However the wait was well worth it, since the X4 comes with a bunch of improvements and innovations.<br></p><p>If you are unfamiliar with the 360 degree cameras, you can have a read at <a data-mce-href="https://tiptoesammie.com/blog/insta360-x3" href="https://tiptoesammie.com/blog/insta360-x3">this article</a> of mine. Short explanation:&nbsp; you just position the camera and start recording. Later, during post-production,in the app or on your laptop, you can fine-tune the framing to your preference. Easy, right?<br></p><p>Now what did Insta360 work on for the past year and a half? It also offers improved low-light performance, however it may look almost artificial at some point. If you frequently shoot in low-light conditions, then I would personally opt for the Ace pro to be honest.</p><p>On my first rides and during post-production I could definitely notice the difference of top-notch imagery. The X4, however, also introduces features like gesture control, enhanced connectivity options. Caution here: I enabled gesture control before a ride and didn't notice there were kids, who were passing closely, waving at the camera disabling the gesture control again. So make sure you keep an eye on it, otherwise you won't have much of riding content in the end, just like I had.<br></p><p>The battery has also gotten an upgrade and you now get a total of 135 minutes recording time at 5.7K30fps. I did the test on my rides and with 8K I got around 85 minutes of full riding time. So if you plan on recording all ride long, I either recommend you get a second or third battery pack or get a usb installed on your bike. This can be especially useful for us content creators when out on extended shooting sessions or when traveling. As mentionned earlier, the X4 comes with a new improved battery, which is slightly larger so the X3 won't fit the X4 and vice-versa. <br></p><p>My <a data-mce-href="https://store.insta360.com/accessory?utm_term=INRR9WX" href="https://store.insta360.com/accessory?utm_term=INRR9WX" target="_blank" rel="noopener">non-negotiables </a>: The quick reader, the quick release and the lens guards. I'm all about efficency and saving time and these tiny helpers definitely contribute to that. It boasts higher resolutions, better frame rates, extended battery life, and the exciting addition of gesture control and high-quality slow-mo. Innovative? For sure! Needed? We'll see.<br></p><p>Summarized, both the Insta360 X3 and X4 offer outstanding options for capturing amazing 360-degree content. The choice between the two ultimately lies on personal preferences. Regardless of whether you select the X3 or the X4, you can anticipate a top-notch camera delivering breathtaking visuals and cutting-edge features. <br></p><p>Sure, the X4's 8k shooting and 5.7k slo-mo sound highly impressive, but let's be real, most platforms can't handle that level of power just yet. YouTube, Instagram, TikTok – they're all mainly sticking to 4k@60fps.</p><p>So, why bother with the X4 now? Well, tech and it's evolution doesn't stop today. Trust me when I say that the era of high-res streaming is on the horizon. Faster internet connections are becoming the norm, and people are hungry for more pixels. When that 8k standard hits, you'll be ahead of the curve with your X4, while your 4k footage might start to look a bit dated and odd, very quickly.<br></p><p>Personally, I see a ton of potential in the Insta360 X4 and, as we all know, the next big camera is probably just around the corner so if you already own the X3 and don't plan on going pro with your content/footage then you will surely not miss out on anything. Is the Insta360X4 worth the upgrade?

<p>Alright, gearheads, gather around! Today, I’m sharing my personal insights with the <a data-mce-href="https://www.insta360.com/sal/x3?utm_term=INRR9WX" href="https://www.insta360.com/sal/x3?utm_term=INRR9WX">Insta360 X3</a> – the camera that turns my rides into what feels like a movie.<br></p><p>When I started with my account on Instagram and saw fellow creators recording their rides in 360-Degree, I was astonished by 1.the quality and 2.the possibilities this would provide me with. It did take me a minute to figure out how this 360-Degree video-thing would work but once I got the hold of it, it didn´t take long and I ordered myself the <a data-mce-href="https://www.insta360.com/sal/x3?utm_term=INRR9WX" href="https://www.insta360.com/sal/x3?utm_term=INRR9WX">Insta360 X3</a> together with the <a data-mce-href="https://store.insta360.com/accessory?utm_term=INRR9WX" href="https://store.insta360.com/accessory?utm_term=INRR9WX">motorcycle bundle</a> for christmas as a present from myself to myself.<br></p><h3>Settings first<br></h3><p>&nbsp;I always set it to 5.7K/30FPS in order to get high-quality videos and photos. However once I´ve edited the videos in-app, I export them to match Instagram´s upload capabilities, which lies around 1080/30FPS.&nbsp; As for other settings, I usually leave them on automatic, because the camera sure knows how to adapt to a change of brightness outside, for example if the sun is out or not.&nbsp; Many people like to have their sharpness set to low, but I do prefer to have it on high to get crisp clear imagery.<br></p><p>One down-side of the X3? My favourite pov, if you follow me on Instagram you´ve seen it already, is having the camera attached directly to the windshield with the flexible adhesive mount. Since my windshield is quite curvy at the spot where I want my camera, this was the best option for me. I also sometimes use the clasp on the handlebar or put it directly onto the mirror of my bike.&nbsp; Their new clasp, featured in the image below, also comes without ball joints for even stabler shots. Which is why&nbsp; additional batteries and their quick charger and quick reader are no-brainer to me.<br></p><p>How does the quick reader work? It doesn´t require wifi and hence allows to transfer all the files quick and smooth to your phone. It´s basically plug and play by putting in your micro-sd card and then connecting the reader either via USB-C or Iphone-Plug into your phone. The app then automatically connects the reader and you can start editing or downloading the videos to your phone. I know it´s a bit pricey but considering the time I save with it, totally worth it from my experience.<br></p><p>The quick charger doesn´t need much introduction, the name says it all. Currently, I've got the Freecom X4 on my AGV K3S and the Packtalk Edge on my AGV Pista GP RR.&nbsp; Overall it took me around 20 minutes to get it going. </p><p>In a nutshell : Started off by removing the padding, finding a suitable spot for the speakers and mic, and pairing them with my phone. The instructions, both in the package and on Cardo´s website, are simple and user-friendly. Sliding the connecting cords around the back and sides of the helmet can be a bit tricky, <br></p><p>To get started, make sure you know how to remove the padding from the inside of your helmet. While helmet designs vary, padding is usually secured with Velcro or snaps. If your helmet has built-in speaker cups, you're good to go. However, if not, you'll need to find the best spot to attach the pair of 40mm JBL speakers. My Pista doesn´t have pre-existing speaker cups, which made it a bit more challenging to position the speakers comfortably while ensuring good sound. It took a bit of trial and error to find the perfect spot. To attach the device, you can use either the provided double-sided tape or by clipping them to the helmet shell if it's thin enough. The shirt comes with AAA-Level certification which is equal to the safety level of a leather motorcycle jacket. I got the pants in regular lenght and they are a bit long for my short legs. Other than that the overall fit is great </p><h3>My personal tips :</h3><p>Sizing can be challenging, so if you´re gonna try gear, make sure to have a motorcycle in close reach to see how it fits when properly seated. After all you want to have the armoured parts in all the right places in case of a crash. <br></p><p><strong>Jackets: </strong>Opt for jackets featuring adjustable elements like waist straps, cuffs, and collar closures to tailor the fit based on your body shape and preferences. Look for designs specifically out for women, acknowledging the variations in body shape. These jackets typically boast a curvier silhouette, taking into consideration the natural curves of the female form.</p><p><strong>Gloves: </strong>If you have smaller hands, explore brands that cater to this requirement. Personally, I find it challenging to fit into XS male gloves as my fingers don't reach the top at all. I made good experiences with Revit, Dainese and Alpinestars female range.<br></p><p><strong>Pants:</strong> Look for brands that provide various leg lengths and a slimmer silhouette to accentuate your curves. Additionally, opting for pants with a bit of stretchy fabric can significantly enhance comfort and flexibility.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
